FUndraising History
After collaborating with the ND Main Street Initiative the GCVC received a $1500 grant that will be put towards a new Gilby themed mural on the North side of Carlson’s Hardware (This project should be completed by late June 2021).

In late 2021 the City of Gilby was gifted the old grocery store building from long time Gilby resident, Yvonne Cronquist. With this generous donation GCVC was able to continue its fundraising efforts to turn the building into the new Community Center and Coffee Shop. We received a grant from the Myra Foundation for $35,000 to go towards the renovations. Various events have been held since the acquisition of the building to continue to raise funds for the renovations. Raffles, spaghetti dinner, burger nights, community wide garage sale, picnics have all been organized to raise funds for improvements.
We currently have raised $52,000 dollars towards our goal. Our goal is to raise $100,000 to be able to continue improvements and sustain operations of the coffee shop once completed.
We have been completely blown away by the generosity of our community and their continued support for the improvement projects. Without the support of residents old, new, far and near the community center and other improvement projects wouldn’t be possible.
Over the last two years a group of dedicated volunteers (eventually to be called the Gilby Civic Volunteer Committee or GCVC) started fundraising to make improvements to the city park. Through donations, fundraising and a grant from the Myra Foundation GCVC was able to make necessary improvements to the park including new equipment, an ice skating rink, warming house and landscaping.
